Hi again. Can anybody tell me what the real names of Darius and Porus were? Most books I've come across give greek references to non-greek people and regions. It sounds absurd to me that modern authors don't use the proper names for people.

Darius: His original Persian Royal name was 'Darayavaush', to be translated as "he who is holding the good". The Greek/Latin name Porus is a rendering of the Indian Puru, the throne name of the ruler of the kingdom Paurava. (
