Pompeii - House of the Faun

This is the location of the Alexander mosaic within the House of the Faun at Pompeii. The House is a very large villa, divided into three sections, the public, the social for entertaining, and the private section at the back of the house. The mosaic is the social section. It is a major work of art when you see it, with very small tesserae. Clearly the owner was making a major statement with this floor that people could walk over.
