Alex & Philip First Battle?

When was the first time that Alex & Philip fought together in battle?
Is it true that while Alex was regent after the Maedi he was called upon by Philip to fight with him at south Thrace? And if yes, where do we have this information from?

At the time of Alexander's action against the Maedoi Philip was beseiging Byzantion, their first battle together was Chaironaia, though I remember an anecdote about Alexander finding Philip hiding among the corpses after a reverse but I haven't found the reference yet

The reference to Alexander saving Philip while he shammed death is in Curtius VIII 1 xxiii, he does not cite the occaision but places it between Chaironaia and Alexander's command against the Maedoi, Mary Renault posits the seige of Perinthos but the defeats just prior to Chaironaia would fit just as well, and we know Alexander was with Philip on this campaign.

Curtius does seem to imply that but it is hard to fit the story of rebelling mercenaries into the battle where Philip and Alexander were on opposite wings. Also he seems to be listing Alexander's grievances in reverse order, denied the credit for the victory at Chaironaia, lack of acknowledgement for saving Philip during a mercenary revolt and then for his solitary campaign in Thrace.
