I just found Scott Oden's book on Memnon which is probably 5 years since originally published. As Scott states in his historical notes, little is known about Memnon. As the saying goes, a man is known by his enemies as well as his friends. Scott has created a very formidable character in his version of Memnon. It may be the will of the gods that Alexander cut his teeth on a man such as Memnon. This is not a review of the book but an acknowledgement and recommendation. I liked the book immensely. Once you begin to read it, it moves quickly. I became absorbed in it, found the tale fascinating. It made me do a little research through search engines.
I admire Scott's well written romance of the Rhodian mercenary who knows how to teach the young welp Alexander military lessons. Fun book to read .
