The slogan on the display in my bookshop says "You have seen the movie... Now it is time to truly know Alexander..."Looks like trying to sell a lousy book by jumping on the bandwagon, doesn't it? Even the title stinks. There ARE lost chronicles, from Babylon, and it is misleading to pretend you are publishing them.It reminds me of Pete Best, who used to be a member of The Beatles until he was replaced by Ringo Starr. Later, he made a record and called it "Best of the Beatles". They're preparing a E.U. law against this type of marketing.HM

I thought most the paper work was lost in the fire on the way back to Babylon, when Alexander set Emenese's tent ablaze believing he was stealing from him?George

Well, it does sound as if it's as Heinrich says - lousy book released and hoping to pick up some readership from the film.Incidentally, can I advise people to steer clear of Nicholas Nicastro's "Empire of Ashes" - it's quite enjoyable, but otherwise worthless. It does have some excellent mistakes in it, which obviously Nicastro and his editor (if he had one) failed to pick up - such as saying that Sisygambis was around 60, but the stating that Darius was around 50 when he died. If Darius' mother was 10 years old when she had him, then I'll eat my copy of Arrian.ATBMarcus
