The way the Persians dressed in the movie

I need more info. on the subject but it seemed that the clothing that the Persians wore in the movie didn't have colors as bright as I expected. Also I thought that the Persians were very modest. And to be naked in public was extremely degrading. I think I read somewhere that part of their punishment for a crime sometimes included being stripped naked. I can't remember where I read this.
