In at 7 down to ten after a week then Gone.

Hi folksWell ive waited so long for the movie and irispective of what I said about going with an open mind as an Alexander reader. It really is a pisser that Stone gets 150 Million to make a good film about a guy we all know to be Great and turns out what appears to be an almighty Turkey.I mean how can it be done by a guy who is soppused to be a great director? Documentaries I see do Alexander more justice either way, Most consontrate on his achievements and endevours as a general and ruler and mostly they are informative and amusing.Alexander The great as It works out was admired by the greatest men in history from Caesar to Napoleon. From Augustus to George Washington to Patton.Yet Stone has made it that generations and millions of viewers take to the hills and ridicule,, I know Andrew and such reckomend parts of the film,, All i read is its over long with narrative to become borring,, I mean Alexanders life was 32 years of action packed adventure, Yet Stone has created 3 hours of monotiny. How will Alexanders reputation ever recover the guy needs crucifying from the walls of Tyre for character assasination of the extreme.I doubt anyone else will touch the story of Alexander The Great after this crock of crap.I doubt Baz Lurman nor Mel Gibson would gamble on another Alexander movie if they did then indeed they would be brave Gibson is Brave and a great film maker but I doubt he would touch it with a barge pol.regardsKenny

Kenny - I think that most of the criticism is of STONE and not of ALEXANDER himself. I'm not telling you what to do, but I wouldn't worry about Alexander's reputation. There are quite a few books being sold now, somewhat due to expanded interest because of the movie. If it has done nothing else it has sparked interest in history, which is a good thing.

I think Alexander can survive a bad movie. I know, it is disappointing, but if someone were to take a gamble and make another movie about him maybe they could see what not to do. And it has increased interest in him. Look at all the new sites that have sprung up. Not all of them good. I have heard many people of all ages ask for good, informative books on the subject. People are making an effort to educate themselves. so that's a postive. The whole thing, Alexander, the Persian empire, ancient warfare, Ancient jewelry, etc., all of it has come under light. I wouldn't worry a bit, it has its own life.

Kenny, I totally agree with you. Some people (like Stone) think they can become controversial by inventing their own historical facts. There is no any historical proof that he was homosexual but only that he married at least twice and left a child. Homosexuality in ancient greece was tolerated more than does today but this does not mean that everybody was a gay. You become a gay because you want and your nature likes this even if you are living in the middle ages Europe. KKostas
