Persepolis treasury into the canals!

Post by Cyrus »

Archaeologists have discovered part of the throne of Darius ( http://www.chn.ir/english/eshownews.asp?no=4374 ) in water canals passing under the treasury in southeastern Persepolis, they say that it fell into the canals after Persepolis was destroyed and looted by Alexander!

What's that source?

Post by jona »

The same article is now also online at http://www.tehrantimes.com/Description. ... um=004What surprises me is the remark that "According to historical sources, the upper parts of the throne of Darius were been made of gold, silver, and ivory and its legs were made of lapis lazuli". Does anyone know which source is meant?Jona

The Persian version of this article: http://www.chn.ir/shownews.asp?no=15757 says the Greek sources but not exactly which ones!
