The beautifull play "Le Tigre Bleu de l'Euphrate" by the french writer Laurent Gaud+¬ will be acted in Paris on january, 2005. This is the adress of the "Theatre du Luxembourg", if some people are interested, and going to France (or living in ?) :
http://www.tnl.lu I've read this wonderfull and deep story but unfortunetly I probably could not go to Paris and watch it.In the play (The Blue Tiger of the Euphrates (I don't know the name of this river in English) Alexander is going to die, in his bed in Babylone, and he tells his life to the Death. That's a great poetic and epic text, with intelligent thoughts about man and life. In one of my favorite pages, Alexander says that when the army did not want to follow him further, in Penjab, he should have let them come back, and keep walking alone in the unknown lands of India, because "since that day I've done nothing except to die." ...This is one of the best book I've read about Alexander.
I don't know if it has been translated in english, i hope for you i'll be !

Yep- I'd say that captures the feeling I always had about the Big A. Now THATS a downside to being king- following back when you'd rather've led forward
