Anient Sources about Ancient Macedonians

Let's get it done one's and for all. Let's talk about the ancient sources, and how THEY saw and reported about Macedonians. Do not try to connect and\or make parallel with today's Macedonia and\or Greece, because this is not the topic for a disscussion and it is irrelevant to this issue. Fine lets begin with Herodotus.Since Herodotus wrote about Macedonia prior to Phillip and Alexander he is an excellent starting point and it gives us some idea how Greeks viewed Macedonians in a pre Alexander stage. Also since you wish to rule out all modern interpitations I assume
you will not be using FYROM ( modern macedonia ) sites and I will not use Greek sites.If you wish to to exclude modern interpitations then thats fine.That means you must not quote Borza or any other modern author and of course the same rulers apply to me .WE must interpit Herodotus or Arrian in our own words .However I beleive if you wish to
have a valid exchange archeological evidence should also be included.Hard evidence is the most objective measurement since testimonies and perceptions are some what subjective in nature though valid.That means archeological finds inscriptions at sites in Pella ,Vergina and Dion should be discussed.Of course that also means that
that archeological finds ect must be interpitered independently of any modern scholar another words in your own words-

lazarprior to 1991 when you were very lucky and fyrom was created, i bet you didnt even know who Alexander the Great was. lets talk ancient sources, all greek with the exception of one. how can you justify calling fyrom the decendants of ancient macedonia. where is the connection when its all greek. do you realise you are possibly living your whole life as a lie?stavros

stavros,I presume you know me very well, since you know where i live and where i am coming from, right?Didn't ever occur to you that i might be coming from a other than Republic of Macedonia, country, or not?Or did ever occur to you that my ancestors are actually from today's Greece, at some times Makedonia?Or you think that only people who live in Republic of Macedonia have to say something against your propaganda?After all in my post i specifically noted that we would not talk about Republic of Macedonia and Republic of Hellas?If you agree on these terms, then it is ok to me. how could ancient greece be living a lie? how could everything be greek at the time except for ATG. give me a break. what makes me laugh is when you say its greek propaganda. when greek history on macedonia is recorded and written in ancient greek, dating long before ATG.dont patronize me. macedonians are greeks. we are quite clear of our identity. you will need to justify yours with great difficulty. and i would bet $10 your ancestors are from florina in Greece. where most of the anti-greeks are situated.like i said, previous to 1991 you had no idea of ATG. you are trying to find some connection to the ancients, therefore rewording ancient sources to suit. the ancient macedonians have no connection with people from fyrom or florina, if they did it would all be written in slavic, croatian, bulgarian whatever language you speak. and alex would be called Sasha. i dont assume anything. and i agree with you when you say people outside fyrom have a voice, most of the propaganda is started in Australia or Canada.is that unintelligent enough for you not to respond?kind regards,stavros

There are well enough Ancient Writers who clearly distinct the two peoples: GREEKS and MACEDONIANS. They did not live in a lie...maybe somebody else is little bit confused?

You say "we are clear of our identity". If you say that your identity is Greek, i agree. When i say that my identity is Macedonian, you don't agree, how come? You know more then me what is my identity,right?
By the way my ancestors are not from Lerin-Florina, but from Cegan-Agios Atanasios, Voden-Edessa Region. See even the names were changed so the government can delete Slav expansion into Greece all the way to the southern parts of Peloponesse.
