IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME, BUT I NEVER FORGOT THIS SITE. IT IS MY FAVORITE. I KNOW HE WAS TAKEN TO AMPHIPOLI WITH HIS MOTHER ROXANE BY CASSANDER BUT HOW DID HE DIE? HOW OLD WAS HE? COULD THIS ACT HAVE AFFECTED WORLD HISTORY HAD HE LIVED? ALL THE BEST! REGARDS TO THE AMMAZON QUEEN. I HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN THE VIDEO YOU WISH TO SEE. LET ME KNOW WHEN? DIMITRIOS

It happens this is exactly what I am writing my novel "Shadow of the Lion" about (the fall of Alexander's dynasty, with many more details than Renault's "Funeral Games" which disappoingly lacked character development. Anyway, Alexander 1V and Roxane were poisoned on Kassandros's orders. They believe it is his remains found in the tomb next to Philip's at Vergina. The remains which are stored in a large silver funerary urn are that of a young boy, around the same age that he was when he died (about 14). He was just on the verge of being able to legally claim the throne for himself when he was killed. I have researched a lot about this story and although there isn't a lot written in the histories about him, I have developed and come to love very much this unfortunate child. Check my website for excerpts. http://www.dreamwater.org/ruthaki

Well anmd this is when I'm getting angry! I'd give a lot to know what would happened if AlexIV would be the king. Was he such tallented as Philip and AlexIII? We will never know but this is so irritating that he was so close to right age and Cassander killed him. That is why I can't be obiective talking about Cassander!Regards

The sources don't say how he died - his grandmother Olympias was stoned to death, his grandfather Philip was stabbed, his half-brother Heracles was strangled, his cousin was hanged, his uncle was stabbed. So there were plenty of different methods.Susan
