Did Alexander see UFO's?

Post by dio »

Hello all, I just finished watching an episode of A&E's Ancient Mysteries where they claim that Alexander saw flying "silver shields" in the sky when he embarked on his campaign to Asia and when he was besieging Tyre. I have not come across these references before. Has anyone seen these?

Hi DioInteresting?!Recent threads indicate that if ATG's name isn't on a particular list, it should be added for good measure. What are the A&E Ancient Mysteries? I sense a book launch.Chris

I wonder if there's some confusion with the Argyraspids, or 'Silver shields', who were elite troops of his.Susan

What will they come up with next? The history channel in America, for those of you in other parts of the world. I've had a few opportunities to check out some of these shows, and sometimes the information is worthwhile, but most of the time...it's unmitigated garbage. The media in America takes advantage of the typical American by portraying these cable shows as if they were substantiated law. Since most of my fellow Americans have have been weened on TV and movies, they are fair game for the molder's hand...like so much "silly putty." If you are reading this post, then obviously, you don't belong in that category, so please don't be offended. The plain truth is that people who don't read are offensive to me by ignorance (in abundance). One of the funniest quotes from a movie called "Lake Placid", I ever heard:Sherriff says..."I didn't know that"Eccentric Scientist says..."No, you wouldn't, because they hide that kind of information...IN BOOKS!"later Nicator

Greetings Nicator,
(Laughing) Now hold on, I just READ an article claiming that ATG saw "silver shields" flying in the sky- proof that, just because you see it on television or read it in a book (or on the Internet), you cannot trust the info is accurate- there is a lot of printed material also false and poorly researched, all over the world. As I was once told "Read, then read more, read even the sources you disagree with-then check references and cross check those, and finally, go directly to the source... and even then, keep a wary eye and ear!" Still chuckling over that scientist's line, though!
Regards,
Sikander
