Re: Alexander and Jerusalem and Prophecy
Yes and it is said that Alexander had excellent relations with the Jews .He allowed them the privilege to live according to their ancestral customs and behaves rather unkind towards the Samarians. Note!!!! It was said that the Book of Daniel predicting his Empire was revealed to him by HebrewAccording to Josephus, Jaddua, the Jewish High Priest, in about 332 BC saw Alexander the Great as fulfilling DanielGÇÖs prophesy that Persia would be replaced by Greece. He writes: "And , when the book of Daniel was shown to him [Alexander], in which he had declared that one of the Greeks would destroy the empire of the Persians, he [Alexander] believed himself to be the one indicatedAlexander the Great in Prophecy
In a vision, God revealed to Daniel that the kingdom to rise after the Persians would be the Greeks under Alexander the Great. Gabriel, the angelic messenger from God, explained to Daniel: GÇ£The ram which you saw, having the two hornsGÇôthey are the kings of Media and Persia. And the male goat is the kingdom of Greece. The large horn that is between its eyes is the first king. As for the broken horn and the four that stood up in its place, four kingdoms shall arise out of that nation, but not with its powerGÇ¥ (Daniel 8:20-21).

Re: Alexander and Jerusalem and Prophecy
It was suggested that Alexander goes to Jerusalem, meets Jaddua and the Jews in procession, reads book of Daniel and becomes a friend of the Jews. This was stated by Jewish sources though not in Bible.
Flavius Josephus see
http://www.reluctant-messenger.com/josephusA12.htm The Book of Daniel which predicted Alexander was written 250 yrs before his arrival according to those who beleive in the Prophecy. However those who are are skepikal would say that it was written after Alexander's conquests since the Bible predicts a Greek King arriving and following his death his Empire is split between 4 successors who would not be as great as the 1st King which we know materialized. I guess whether or not one beleives in the Prophecy of Daniel or that the Book of Daniel was written to describe a historical fact that occured is key to how it would be preceived. Regards,
