Favorite Alexander fictional book?
I was wondering, what's yours?I love Renault's "Fire from Heaven"-the characters are so real, the style is amasing and the way she just sucks you in to the world that's Alexander's normality...The only thing I disliked was hephaestion's characterisation because his main characteristic was simplly to pine away for Alexander so I'm still deciding whether to get "The Persian boy";any recommendations?Anamarija

Re: Favorite Alexander fictional book?
I haven't read many fictional books about Alexander - not when one sees how many there are. But of those I have read, the only ones I didn't think were poorly written, historically very dodgy, or just plain rubbish, were the Renault books. One might argue that even hers are a bit dodgy historically in places, but on the whole I would say they are pretty good, and at least she could write decent English.Of Renault's trilogy, "Fire From HEaven" is my preferred, although I really like "Funeral Games", too.Of course, I haven't read GA Hauser's magnum opus yet (before she takes offence at my general castigation of the currently available books); and my own novel (work in progress) is, of course, exceptional :-)All the bestMarcus
