New Alexander book
Hi all,I've noticed on the Amazon website that a book entitled 'Alexander the Great:Man and God' is due to be published around November 30th. The author is a Professor Ian Worthington who also wrote a book called 'Alexander the Great:A Reader' last year.I don't know much about this guy, has anyone read the 'ATG:A reader' book, and if so, what were your thoughts? I'm just trying to decide whether to bother getting either of them.thanksKit

IMHO, Iam Worthington is not a very good Alexander scholar. One need only recall his pitiable article in the AHB that Frank Holt ripped to shreds in two succeeding articles.

Re: New Alexander book
I have the Reader. It's OK, although as it's made up of a load of articles that I already have, it was, to be honest, a bit of a waste of money. But for people with less access to academic libraries it would be excellent. However, (and a big however), many of the articles are quite old, because they were the cheapest to get permission to re-print. Therefore I did rather feel that it doesn't give a very up-to-date perspective on where Alexander scholarship is.I have an order place with Amazon for the "Man and God" book, so when I get it I shall be in a better position to comment. But if it's a case of one or the other, I suspect that the upcoming book would be a better buy.All the bestMarcus
