Silk Road
I've just found a site devoted to ancient trade routes. The section on the Silk Road is here - http://www.ancientroute.com/SilkRoad.htmThis is the area through which Alexander and his army would have travelledSusan
Re: Silk Road
You are reading my mind, I believe. Or at least we are in sync. I was thinking after I read through Michael Wood's book on Alexander that if it weren't for Alexander, we probably would not have had the bombing of the World Trade Center. I see a connection, and as your silk road led me straight to Kabul, I thought Aha, I was right. So thanks, as I am seeing how much Steve Strato (sp.?) reminds me of Osama bin Laden.I have often wondered at how much impact Alexander's life has had on the Taliban and al Qaeda.I was just apalled by Alexander's sacrifice of so many young men due to the death of Hephaestion. I have understood why many of his slaughters and retributions as survival of the fittest entitled him to a certain amount of carnage, but that particular slaughter left me speechless! As his men had fulfilled his own direction in all these slaughters, I am sure that many may have been numbed by it all. I fully appreciate Cleitos's words about while the numbers do the work, one man gets all the credit. Alexander must have been in a very bad mood not to have understood the thinking.Sorry if I have offended anyone, but I spent all day yesterday pondering Alexander and had another dream this morning realizing that this Pothos group gets a lot more attention than most. Congratulations!
