Has anyone seen this animation? It's on adultswim on cartoon network at 1:00 am eastern/pacific. I was wondering, How close does this relate to the real Alexander. It seems close to me in a sort of way.

Greetings all! I'm a long-time visitor finally breaking the ice with a post.I've seen R:TC through twice, and quite like it; however, it is definitely not to everyone's taste. (My husband just calls it "Men With No Pants")It was adapted from a Japanese book & anime entitled "Alexander Senki"; roughly, "The Military Exploits of Alexander". The character designs are done by Peter Chung, whose trademark is focus on exaggerated aspects of physiognomy, i.e. torso length, strong facial features, musculature, and the armor design is very stylized, as is the architecture. That caveat on the table, the story is a combination of compressed historical fact and surrealism. Many of the main elements are present, though consideribly altered at times, and the numerous in-facts are fun to pick up on - for example, Roxane comments on Alexander's sweet-smelling skin, but it is implied that she will marry Darius at some point.If one likes anime in general and looks at the series as "faction", I would recommend it. If one prefers Disney animation and is a stickler for historical accuracy, this may not be worth staying up late for. Regardless, if I may take a brief meow moment here, I have a feeling that I will definitely prefer this two-dimensional Alexander to any future DiCaprio interpretation....
