Alexanders appearance

Post by Stathis »

FIrstly let me say hi!I am new to this forum and i thought it would be nice to participate in it.I am from Greece and i am currently gathering info on Alexander.
I was wondering, i have looked into many sources but couldnt find any information on Alexander's hair color.
It may sound little aukward, but in these little bits of information i am interested nowdays.I know that Macedonians used to have blond hair(most of them),but what about Alexander?
If anyone has any info on this it would be a great help.
(I want to make an exact portrait of Alexander on my pc,i already have found the statue head that depicts himt most accurate, now i must find these details ,hair eyes e.t.c)

This subject has been discussed very often, the last time being about two weeks ago. Click on here for the message thread:http://pothos.org/forum/showmessage.asp ... eID=7565or you can search for 'hair color', in the 'search forum' box below where there are a lot of references.

Alexander is blonde haired. He has one eye dark and the other blue. (Huskies sometimes have that.) He is ruddy or reddish cheeked, has high cheekbones, is bronze toned in body, and is quite muscular. He is of average height. His sculptors idealized him, but he is quite well known for having an appearance of dreaminess and great physical beauty.

Janet,You've been having those dreams of yours again, haven't you? :-)You do need to be very careful about the descriptions of Alexander - you'll no doubt remember the various threads we had not that long ago - and there is no consensus opinion on his hair colour, or the colour of his eyes (let alone whether they were the same colour or different). There is certainly not enough consensus for us to be polemic about it!As for being muscular - that's one point that probably everyone would agree on, because he couldn't *not* be, with the military training and exercise he received. Although I rather like the idea of a gout-ridden, pot-bellied Alexander waddling across the Ancient World... :-)All the bestMarcus

Hi Marcus,Today I woke from a dream about Elton John. That has me really worried. But he looked like the Elton that we see on t.v. I just could not remember the friend who was with him, if it was Tom Wopat or who. Thanks for reminding me of my dream. I have been analyzing that ever since as to why and how it happened. I guess it happened on Jan. 21, 2003, as I sketched it and dated it. Long time ago but left me a lasting impression anyway. I have only five dream sequences of ATG and have forgotten none of them. Sketched those that I could just to have the recall. The muscles did impress me a lot. I am not usually attracted to muscle bound men, but this group would impress anyone. No wonder people feared and respected a group like that. I have always found Alexander and his companions to be intimidating and frightening. Those who were smart ran away in fear. At least they would show good sense that way. It always amazes me at how ferocious Alexandros is and yet how gentle, patient, and kind with women. Amazing to think about, truly.
