Hi Susa,That is the impression I got, but I cannot say for sure. It would certainly make sense, though, don't you think? (I would hope that using Ptolemy as a narrator would also make the script writers stick more closely to Arrian, but perhaps that's too much to ask...).All the bestMarcus

Wow! This is actually a pretty good idea.
Maybe you are right, Marcus (thanks for the welcome
. Well, at least it makes the perfect sense. About Parmenio or Antipatros ages - i'd guess they were nearly the same age as Phillip, who was killed being 46. Ok, let's say 55-60 till Alexander died... And a great spoiler for the movie
one of them didn't make it so far. Of course, i won't spoil you the experience by actually revealling the name
;)
Seriously though, with all those kinds of report, we'll figure out the script pretty soon. As for Arrian - i'm afraid he's too restrained for Hollywood. I mean, where can you find this big and bold proclamation by Stone about "THE FALL AND RISE OF ALEXANDER" in Anabasis?! But i read somewhere that they based the script on Robin L. or was it J.?Fox book. I remember i read it, but i can't for my life remember now the detailes. Someone can help?

Hi Anna,Stone has certainly been using Robin Lane Fox as a script consultant for his movie - there was an article in The Times a couple of months ago. Yes, in some respects Arrian is restrained, but the best bits for filming are all there - the battles and sieges, the destruction of Persepolis, etc. Parmenion was quite a bit older than Philip - he was around 70 when he was murdered in 330BC. And Antipater was also older than Philip, but I think somewhere between the two. All the bestMarcus
