I don't think it will even have occurred to Caesar to conquer all those lands, not least because it was, quite simply, legislatively impossible for him to do so. The mechanics of the Roman Republic were such that only in exceptional circumstances could a Roman achieve certain offices before he reached a certain age, and even then he couldn't take armies off to conquer lands on a whim. There was absolutely no way in which the Roman society *could* have enabled Caesar to embark on such a programme of conquest - part of the reason why he was so upset by his inability to emulate Alexander.All the bestMarcus
