ALEXANDER'S BODY
I read somewhere that his body might be in the VATICAN! Personally, I think it's in Alexandria or Siwa. What a find it would be! Long Live Alexander!

Re: ALEXANDER'S BODY
You probably read that here. I had this weird theory that perhaps the Romans took his body to Rome as his body was in Alexandria at Caesar's time.
It was just a crazy idea. The reason being they believed that who ever held Alexander's body held the power. It was a 'joke', really, when I wrote that I wondered if they had it stashed somewhere in the Vatican.

The last recorded sighting of his body was by Caracalla? around 300AD? Is there any other info about his body after this event?

Re: ALEXANDER'S BODY
I only know it was there at Caesar's and Cleopatra's time (in Alexandria). A couple of years ago some archaeologists thought they'd discovered his tomb at Siwah but I believe this proved to be just a facade, not the real thing. I wonder, now that they have discovered Cleopatra's palace under the sea at Alexandria, if they might locate the tomb as well. There has never been a trace of the ornate funeral carriage. Likely stolen by grave looters. It's a big mystery, isn't it? And one that may never be solved.
Re: ALEXANDER'S BODY
It is recorded history that the body was seen by Roman Emperor Caracalla around 300AD. I believe that is the last recorded sighting.
Louvana Soulvatsis is the archeologist that you refer to in Siwa. Its too bad it wasn't what she thought it was.I beleive she is still digging.
You can see her interviewed on a BBC SPECIAL titled "CHILD OF FIRE" narrated by Tony Spalworth.I have that video and I must say that it is the best documentary that I have ever seen about ATG.
As for Cleopatra's Palace, there might be a possibility that his tomb is there , under the water, but what would that do to the body?
The Magnificent Funeral Cart I believe was melted down by PlolemyII for cash. WHAT A WASTE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Enjoy talking with you Ruth. P.S. Could the body be in Constandinople?

Re: ALEXANDER'S BODY
I doubt it would be in Constantinopolis as if it got that far it would have made it's way back to Macedonia. I still like my wild idea of it being hidden in the Vatican. LOL>
Re: ALEXANDER'S BODY
In what way did Ptolemy gain control of the body from Perdiccas? And what about the body being under water?
