Yes correct. I haven't books with mee right now but I'm preety sure they teamed not against Alex but against diadochs after Alex's death. They acted together after this and if Eumenes would not kill Krateros in one of first battles who know they had a chance to win those conquest - because Krateros was most trusted Alex's friend. That's what I think about it John.

OK. I have a copy of Arrian right here.It says Alexander sent Krateros "as an invalid," (so he was already "ill" when Alexander sent him) to Macedonia to replace Antipater. Alexander also sent Polysperchon with Krateros, in case Krateros couldn't make it.Then Arrian talks about the "rumors" of discord between Alexander/Antipater. Then there is "the great lacuna" of Arrian, where a bunch of stuff is missing. When the text comes back, Arrian is talking about a reconciliation between Hephaistion/Eumenes.Subsequently (in the Crystal Ball), I see the conspirators from Macedon knocking off Hephaistion, then Alexander, then failing against Eumenes in actual battle (Eumenes, who was sympathetic with Olympias, and fighting for Alexander's honor), Krateros bites the dust.John

Yes, John, Krateros did die later... but he was ill on the journey from Babylon to Macedonia and I think he got held up because of it and therefore did not meet up with Antipater until Alexander was already dead. All the bestMarcus
