Antipaganism. A Crime against historical Artifacts

Post by jasonxx »

We are amongst the time of Halloween and the so called wickedness of Paganism spewed out by Christains. It echeos the book by Andrew Chugg and Alexanders tomb. I particullay remember the verses that Alexanders body could have been destroyed as a pagan Image by those wanky religious Christians who accept and forgive nothing contrary to the Man Chreists teachings.

If they did destroy Alexanders body then its another example of Christian vandalism thats gone on for centuries. To think Alexander was tollerant of all religions that the Christians at that time would label him a pagan is a bit of a piss take.

Fanatism is bad.Yet, there were priests and monks who preserved ancient knowlledge and antiquities.

When the Byzantine King Theodosios issued the order to destroy the temples and things of the ancient gods, some people run to fulfill his order while others tried to save what they could.Great attrocities were commited, but mainly from zealots. This was a dark spot in history. But in the following centuries there were many monks that kept and preserved the ancient knowlledge. In monasteries like at the Holy Mountain in mount Athos in Halkidiki, and at Sinai.

Some of the Greek philosophers like Plato and Socrates and Aristotle are depicted next to other Saints of the Orthodox church on Holy paintings on the walls of a monastery at the Holy Mountain, that were created during the Byzantine years. Many clerics appreciated the wisdom of the ancient philosophers and early priests and monks tried to unite the teachings of Christ with those of the philosophers, and of course some times they were opposed to the beliefs of the official church. But the thing here is that not all Christians destroyed whatever could be classified as paganistic.Furthemore i think things had followed their way long before Theodosios issued that order. The ancient religion had less worshipers as time passed by because many were dissapointed by what it offered and liked the ideas of Christianism better.Of course Theodosios tried to abruptly put an end to the ancient religion anyway resembling the crazy Roman Emperors that could burn down Rome because someone hadnt cleaned their chambers good.

About Alexander's body: I dont know if Theodosios gave an order for the body to be destroyed. After all Alexander was a symbol for every King and General. But even if he did, i think that if they destroyed the body there would be a testimony.Alexandria was a big city and an important one too, and the body of Alexander must have been famous not only to Alexandria. And usually when zealots destroyed temples, staues or killed people, they did it in public. If they were to destroy the body they would do it in the central square of Alexandria. But there is not such account.
