Interest and Fascination With A War Practitioner

Post by kennyxx »

Companions Hi.

Weall have a varied and interesting fascination with Alexander who was basically a fighter. Then we will get society and modern critics argue that such people are Barbaric and belong in the past.

Just recently I have taken an interest in my small 6 year old sons Computer and Video games. Xbox etc and it has become clear the nearly a hundered percent are based on war theft vandalism etc. From guys with lazers to Semi Clad Cartoon women equivelent to Bruce Lee. Or ram raiders etc.

I guess what Im saying is society basically Hypocritical to lambast Alexander etc when it teaches our kids to jump over buildings somersaults and violenve.

Any thoughts?

Interest and Fascination With A War Practitioner

Greetings Kennyxx,
that is true....how many computer games are of a romantic nature.....hehehe
The difference between our world and Alexander's is a simple word 'civilised' our 'civilised' being perceived as somewhat different from Alexander's 'civilised'.....but has it really changed that much.
The only difference is that 'civilised' modern man and woman has developed a more humane attitude towards other humans and animals, or at least some of us have.
You take away the police force and laws that govern the use of weapons or send men (and women) to war with kopis, sarissa and aspis.....and see what happens though.....
If Alexander lived now, who can say what his attitudes would have been as a product of a modern world....?
Being a reenactor, I often wonder how we (those of us who have not been in the military), would react if faced with the reality of ancient war......
:?
regards
Cynisca
