Handy For Alexander that Darius was Murdered

Hail Porthonians. Michael.I know and understand that you as I apreciate Alexander was clever cunning and if need be ruthless. The ubject has been threaded before.The sources say and some academics argue that Alexander wanted to take Darius alive and be noble and treat him nice etc. I wonder if this is really the case. Or was it coincidence that Darius murdered. We hear about Alexander chasing the party with Darius held captive. We also hear that during the chase Alexander paused for 3 days?We do know through evidence of forced marches ie. South to take the Theban threat. Alexander never usually stopped so why this time. As I have said Alexander very astute and on the ball and Id go so far as to say he was implicated with Darius death. He stopped to give the traitors time to kill him. The assasination wrked well for 2 reasons. 1 to get rid of a king who was no Porus and inspite of the admiration and rhetoric for propganda. Alexander couldnt have at all respected the guy.2nd He has a legitimate reason to carry on chasing Bessus and to do as he liked with him as a traitor.If Alexander had taken Darius how could he justify going on with his conquests. His argument was to keep chasing Bessus as a threat.And finaly what realistically could Alexander do with Darius alive. He didnt really like the Idea of Parmenio as a tool of comparisons etc. How would he handle Darius jaunting about and the baggage attatched. Alexander must have known his position better without Darius and what a cunning way. that Darius own people killed him Alexander gets what he wants looking whiter than White.Kenny

WE must accept that Alexander was a much brighter mental button we all give him credit for. Indeed he was his fathers son. Just as clever and just as devious.Kenny
