Companions HiOver in the Uk right now were looking back at a footballer and the word Genius and Flawed come into play.Readily Society picks out persons to be genius and it is quite clear that all the Geniuses I have to mind or those people in history that had an impact of universal adoration. Elvis.Paul Gascoigne.Beethoven.Van Gough.Princess Di to name a few all had some kind of gift from somewhere yet at the same time mostly had demons or tortured minds.Maybe god gives with one hand yet takes away with the other. If maybe he let the person have the full package god may become forgotten. No doubt people will disagree with my opinion. But I do believe Alexanders genius was maybe the only one I can think of that was not flawed. Many argue Alcoholism. Madness losing his closest and most loved soul mate. However Drinkingwith large excess as Macedonian. Therefore all Macedonia was alcoholic judging by todays standards.
people every day lose people the adore love and believe theres nothing to live for yet they rarely go insane. So would I be alone with thinking Alexander unflawed with his genius. And a final reflection with Alexander the Great and the sad life of Alexander. The faceless deal makers politicians company directors who use and cream these people for the capitalist greedy selfish way of life then once the fatted cow has been milked these people dry they leave them to rot. Or with Alexander got rid of.RegardsKenny

Re: Flawed Unflawed Genius?
Nobody is 'perfect' (unflawed) not even our hero.
In fact, toward the end he displayed some meglomaniac tendancies. He had an uncontrolled temper at times and killed a coupleo of his very close friends. He was bi-sexual (not a big deal in those days but these days people seem to have made a point of it (horrors! the way he was depicted in Stone's movie, for instance). Yes, he began to drink too much (how much was 'too much' in those days of tainted water?) Anyway, despite his human frailties (he wasn't a god, after all) he is still our hero and we accept him even with his flaws.

I always love to listen to Kenny's rhetoric. And I also love to hear from Ruthaki, but on this post I must disagree. I believe that Alexander does fit the description of a god as described in his time and age, and I also believe that he was a man who practiced the art of self control so that he would be likened to a modern day priest or monk, except on those occasions that he had to beget a child, and thus coupled with women to do so. I have read that he was continent, a different meaning from modern day definition also, meaning that he practiced abstinence. I do not buy into his having been a bisexual and on that, Kenny and I agree. Guess maybe that is why I always love to hear Kenny champion Alexander in his inimitable way.
