Re: Alexander the NOT so great.
Hi Stan,Despite a long barrage of posts accusing Ron on various levels, I do think his was a perfectly acceptable question. I don't see his post as being virulently "anti-Alexander" (and, even if it was, there's nothing in the forum rules that stops anti-Alexandrines from contributing to the debate on Pothos). He asked a perfectly reasonable question: why is Alexander called "Great"? I don't even see that he was comparing Alexander with Hitler - if anything he was asking why Alexander should *not* be compared with Hitler. As far as I'm concerned Ron is more than welcome to continue visiting Pothos and posting questions, entering the debates, etc. There's no need for him to be shunted off somewhere else. All the bestMarcus
Re: Alexander the NOT so great.
I would just like to thank Marcus for his support and he understood me very well. I come here without any bad intent and just a curious mind that never rests. I would like to pass on my regards to whom I might have offended and again - without any intent to offend. I have a strong opinion and Marcus has realized that - thank you, Marcus.Regards to all my "new" friends

Re: Alexander the NOT so great.
Hello Andrew,I must confess that I have cancer and somtimes feel tireds but that I can deal with all things. Can my friends talk to me in my last hours?
Re: Alexander the NOT so great.
Well this has gone into un comfortable turf.Ron if you have cance or anyone had such an ailment then I have the utmost understanding and consideration. I wont say sympathy as people shouldnt look for that.Or on the second hand its a cry for attention.to come in the forum with a controvertial post. Then to claim victimisation with my post. Then to avoid Andrews question indicates the second to me.If wrong indeed im sorry but we will never know. But I guess gut feeling counts for something.kenny.I would apologise to porthonians also if this message seem harsh but its a valid point,And if it is a cry for attention its pretty sad and shows ill respect for those who actually do suffer with this agonising ilness.my wife nursed her mother throught 8 years of that having been told by doctors to expect 6 months. I neverknew my mother in law but the woman fought maybe a tougher battle than even Alexander to stay with her children. Not a lot to do with Alexander but just thought Id share it with you.

Re: Alexander the NOT so great.
I think if you don't know the truth of something - and how on earth could anyone *prove* their illness via an online forum - then it is cruel to comment this way.And anyway, in the unlikely event that a member, any member, felt they had to plead a life-threatening illness to defend or protect themselves here, it says volumes about the quality of the forum.

Re: RAKHI SAVED LIFE OF ALEXENDER THE GREAT IN THE BATTLE FI
Hello Andrew,I cannot believe that people in this forum are so callous and attacking me for no apparent reason. By disclosing my illness I was merely being honest and let me make it perfectly clear that I can do without the attention of such individuals who pretend to be relatives of Plutach! Yes, I started a topic that some of you found to be "shocking". Forums are disigned to voice one's thoughts!Anyway Andrew, it's amazing that you are so well versed in Indian Culture. You are either an Indian yourself or simply, "smart". My sister just tied a band around my wrist just yesterday as it was Rakhi Day. After all, I am Indian.About Alexander having been adopted as a brother by an Indian sister, it's possible. I can see that would have spared his life by the Indian "forces".I cannot comment much more as I do not know much about this.In closing, I would like to say that I challenge the rude individuals in this forum to be a little more diplomatic!Regards!
Re: Alexander the NOT so great.
Thanks Andrew for your sentiments. I have responded to your Rakhi posting.
Re: Alexander the NOT so great.
Linda,I am disappointed that you chose to comment about my illness and not about my original posting. The quality of this forum lies with the individual and independent thoughts but also by collective efforts. Your comment was unnecessary and un-called for. Please refrain from rudeness in the future.
Re: Alexander the NOT so great.
What *are* you talking about Ron? I commented on someone else's post where I felt it inappropriate that they questioned the veractity of your illness. And also, if you read it properly, I felt it was terrible that you had to reveal your illness in order to defend yourself from not having replied to a post. No one should have to feel they need to "explain" why they didn't answer. *That* is the quality of the forum to which I refered - not that you wrote about your illness but that you felt it was necessary because of things said to you. If you feel that was me being rude, then so be it. It's the first time I've ever been called rude on any of the forums, but I won't lose any sleep about it as my conscience is clear. As for my not responding to your first post. No one is under any obligation here to answer any particular post or thread. Frankly, it's rude of you to tell me which post I should or shouldn't respond to. I'm sorry I got involved now. Next time someone suggests you are lying about something so serious I will refrain from saying anything. Serves me right for trying to make this a better place. Maybe I should do what other members have done and just stay away.

Linda, please stay here as you fuel the fire. I have nothing towards you. You have an intelligent mind from which I can learn.
Re: Alexander the NOT so great.
Alexander wanted to bring the world together so it would be better for all . He also defeated the largest empire the world had seen with an army of 50,000 against 200,000 . He fought at the front line of his army and for those reasons he is called Alexander the Great . Hitler wanted to destroy races, he was an evil tyrant who was never with his army in battle
