Hi Ruth,i've checked the Realencyclopedie and it says nothing is known of Menyllos further life and career, so it's ok to kill him

Of course since the publication RE an inscription could be found, but since it's a novel...regards,abm

I spent a lot of time yesterday going through research notes, Plutarch, books etc. And nothing further is said about Menyllus. It sort of figures he was probably bumped off to get him out of the way as the Athenians who wanted the garrison removed favoured him over Nikanor of Stageira. In the course of my reading I got more and more fascinated with Phokion. The man almost deserves a novel to himself. Does anyone know if there are any actual books written about him besides what the historians have recorded? Both Philip and Alexander seems to have thought well of him and treated with him fairly. From what I've read, I'm quite impressed with the man. (and yes, he's referred to most often as 'military governor' and 'general'.)
