Alexander in Manhattan

Post by flash »

Hi all, its been a while since I have witten in, but I tell everyone of the Onassis Cultural center
at
Olympic Tower
645 Fifth Avenue
New York, NY 10011Alexander The GreatTreasures from an Epic Era of HellenismThey are showing so many artifacts from the late 4th century including Macedonian helmets, sheilds and an 18' sarissa, sword, drinking cups, beautiful gold earings, necklaces, and one foot long lady's golden pins to hold the various garments together. Also many busts and medallions of ATG and Phillip II. It is right in midtown and believe it or not its all free in NY city, go figure. haregards,George Rose

I posted about this exhibition when it first opened but of course it has disappeared from the forum so it's good to see someone else bring it up again. :-) But you are right, George, once the exhibition is over it will be dismantled and the exhibits returned to their place of origin. This isn't part of a touring exhibition, it was assembled strictly for the Onassis Center. (I asked about this the first time I visited.)Best regards,Amyntoros
