when alexander approached darius egypt, they were given orders to resist. they heard alex. was sick, tried to get philip his doctor to kill him, when this failed, they tired to turn alexander against his doctor.
then alexander attacked the fortress of egypt, he lost many men, alexander set fires to its walls, when the egyptains saw all was lost ,they tried to become alexanders ally.
they told him of a letter left by nectanevous prince of egypt, who went into exile in macedonia, that he was foretold of coming and he was the son of ammon.
in this letter of nectanevous he ordered to build a stele, and put his crown on its top, and whoever comes and stands beneath this crown,he is my heir and your ruler.
the old greek chap book states that nectanevous used a deception as god ammon and seduced olympias, and some egyptains say he was alexanders true father, but the greeks say nectanevous was born in macedonia, so alexander is still macedonian greek.
Alexander entered the gates of the fortress of egypt, still angry at his losses, they took him to this stele, the crown fell, they accept alexander as their ruler and son of ammon.
alexander razed this fortress as punishment, built four statues facing into the razed fortress, his three generals and himself.
when i sent photo copies of this to the library in alexanderia, they said they will cover and edit this for egyptain culture and place it in their museum enbossed in gold, and give it to thir research dept
for further research and finds.
i hope this clarifies it a little.
