That was funny, Cyrus. I'm not sure about:"There is not even any proof that this Alexander even existed," asserted Moussavi, who said he was "fed up" with history's ongoing fascination with the Macedonian king, who died in 323 BC at the age of 32 after capturing most of what was then the known world."We should be clearer about which Alexander we are talking about. There are 300 of them in our history books, but no archaeological relic proves the existence of this particular one," said Moussavi.Oh well, everyone's got to have his say! :-)All the bestMarcus

Behind door number 299 is Alexander of Abonoteichos

Post by ancientlibrary »

I love the notion that Stone's movie will "add to
centuries of distrust toward the West." Puhleeze.
If a bad Hollywood movie gets your goat, you
never had a goat to begin with. Besides, the
Greeks hate it too. Greco-Persian solidarity at
last!In the spirit of brotherhood, I submit as the
asked-for archaeological relic the broken and
charred remains of Persepolis.

The blondness was rare in Greece and this is the reason the legeds wanted their big heros and gods to be blond. (e.g. Achilles, Ahprodite were also blond). The Persians had a civilisation but the Greek civilisation is not measured by the size of the palace or the pyramids. This is a simplistic approach for simple people. The man was raised and respected as an independent free individual for the first time in history and this is the main difference we all have to guard for the now and for the future.
