Macedonian Oaks and Celtic Druids
Some wave of exciting information have come from Celtic research. It have been known that Basques
are last left descendands of Europeans from paleolitic times and before indoeuropean settlements.Last genetic search on Celtic today have revealed almost same result like Basques.
Theoreticly this is supporting the theory that Stonehendge have been builded from Druids. So if we accept this ,than Druids become a wery interesting from the point of similarity with some traditions from Ancient Macedonians and with that, Celtic-Macedonian relationships from the delegation of Celts on the court of Alexandar up to the plundering of Macedonia and Hellada.

Re: Macedonian Oaks and Celtic Druids
But we do not have such examples amongst the Macedonians. If you reffer to oak leaf chaplets that were found, these were far from worship items. They were decorative, a theme taken from nature. We have plenty of examples of decorative leaf-like chaplets (wreaths?) in ancient Greece, but no recordings of tree-worship! Perhaps one would give praise to e.g. the olive tree for being "divine" but not attribute to it God-like characteristics.
Do you have some sourse that refers to that?

Re: Macedonian Oaks and Celtic Druids
Perhaps you refer to the sacred oak tree in Dodoni? (That was Epiros, Olympias' haunts).
I believe that on the stones of Stonehenge they found Mycenean markings and because the stone structures are much like those at Mycenea there was a possibility the 'engineers' came from there with their knowlege??? I also see to remember reading somewhere that it's possible the Druid priest caste came from somewhere over in Asia (kin to the Chaldeans??)

Sorry, but apart for the Celt representatives that visited to congratulate Alexander after his Balkan victories, I don't recall any other contact.Pictyres of oak wreaths:

Re: Macedonian Oaks and Celtic Druids
The oak tree was the symbolic tree of Zeus, and when worship of the god was originally established in Dodona there existed the belief that Zeus and his wife (known then as Dias) lived in the branches of the tree. Later, the tree became the oracle of Zeus and messages were interpreted by listening to the whispering of the leaves - see H. W. Parke, Greek Oracles, 1977, pages 20-25. However, I'm still a little confused as to why you are looking for relationships between the Celts and the Macedonians at the time of Alexander and/or later, while researching the symbolism of the oak. The tradition of the oak at Dodona goes back to around the 13th and 14th centuries BCE and representations of the oak in the religions of the Celts, Greeks, Macedonians. Slavs and Teutonic tribes had been established long long before the time of Alexander. (?)Best regards,Linda Ann

Thanks,Linda!
It is my wiev that we have missed sometihng in population movements in Europe. It is looking that Indoeuropean is near all based on the language, but maybe it is not.So I am trying to do revision on some elements.Traceing Oak kult from Basques trough Celts up to Macedonians and Hellenes. But it is not only that.I find that even istrument like Backpipe.
The Basques are much attached to dancing, and are very fond of the music of the bagpipe.Spanish Basques have their own version of the bagpipe, called a galleta. The general Spanish name for these pipes is GAITA.Gaida is in Northern Greece and R.Macedonia, cimpol in Romania, duda in Hungary, Dudelsack in Germany, sakkpiap in Sweden, bagpipe for Ireland and Scotland, zampogna in Italy, touloum in Turkey.Greece has two types of bagpipes, the sabouna and the gaida. The gaida, which has a drone, is found in mainland Greece, mostly in Macedonia and Thrace. The sabouna belongs to the Aegean islands, the Ionian islands, the Black Sea, and the Mani (Western Peloponnese).
