This is a remarkably bad movie. Nothing happens and very slowly. 24 people walked out DURING THE FILM, and this was in Santa Monica--not an undiscriminating audience. One might think that three hours would be plenty of time to give a good twist on a potentially rich story. But no. For all the tireless, uninteresting, depressingly empty dialog, no one in the film manages to say anything. Between the absurd Irish accents, the unthinkably nasty dye job on Mr. Farrell's hair, the many cinematography mistakes, the unreasonably waxed, shaved and greased soldiers, etc, etc., one is left wondering how many contortions Oliver Stone underwent to display such utter incompetence on this one. The worst movie I've ever seen.

Well, Fortune Cookie was worse and I did walk out on it. I sat through to the end on Alexander, and was too dumbstruck at why anyone would spend that much time and money on what is undoubtedly the joke of the year! It is sad because so many had wanted it to be good. But I got a dose of medicine, and I am sorry to hear about Santa Monica for that is where Terry, one of my students, lives and I hope that he doesn't just see me and his sister in this movie, and get the last laugh on both of us. I saw it, and I am sure that some of them will too!
