Alexander History Channel Special
The history channel thing they ran on Alexander last week was really cool....It was cool to hear all of the stories that have circulated about this guy. Personally, I have a weakness for that sort of stuff... I love hearing about huge battles, emotional speeches, treachery, etc... So it was obviously launched in conjuntion with the movie ---do you think Oliver used any information/any of the experts from the program?

I actually liked the history channel's three hour special. It almost made me want to sit in a classroom maybe. The Battle of Tyre really impressed me as it made me think of all the people inside who were resisting Alexander's assault, and I thought what a great drama this really is. This is one of the most challenging, interesting, and spectacular of the many battles that Alexander fought. Imagine building towers to have them burned down only to rebuild them again, and to do so with a determination that is to my mind utterly mindboggling. Two moles had to be built. But Alexander was in the zenith of his youth then, and had the stamina and the support of all his men as well as surrounding cities to help him. This, even before he reaches the oracle of Siwa to encourage and aid and abet even him further. I liked history channel's ability to inspire!Hephaestion is the name of Alexander's childhood friend.
