The Median empire

Post by jona »

A while ago, we briefly discussed the existence of the Median empire, and the problems created by Herodotus's description of the Ancient Near East. A fine introduction to the subject matter can now be found athttp://ccat.sas.upenn.edu/bmcr/2004/2004-11-11.htmlwhich is a fairly long review of a book on the subject. It also describes several ongoing projects about the study of the ancient near east, which help us challenge old knowledge that was inspired by Greek ideas about the orient.Jona
