Revisiting 'bilingualism' using modern examples...

It does not seem appropriate to use, say, Switzerland, as a modern model for the ancient Macedonian society. When speaking of Switzerland, are we not describing clearly distinct ethnicities that have conciously chosen a federal governmental administration? There can be no doubt for the modern analyst and the future historian that we are talking about French, Italian, and German peoples peaceably and conciously co-inhabiting, as distinct ethnic groups but the same nation. Is there any convincing evidence to support this construction on ancient Macedonia? Are we not referring to the Macedonians as one ethnos, with language, culture, and all that is contained in this statement?

According to Nicholas Hammond, the Macedonian nation did not consist solely of one tribe. The original Macedonians who inhabited near the Pieria Mountains, their cradle, were ruled by the Temenid dynasty. They were the so-called Argeades. This particular tribe expanded gradually throughout the whole of Macedonia by subjugating the neighboring peoples of Tymphaea, Elymiotis, Orestis, Eordaea, Lynkestis and Pelagonia. The nation of the royal house (that is the Argeades) spoke an Aeolian dialect of Greek and the rest of the conquered Macedonians spoke western Greek dialects close to the one the Molossians of Epirus spoke. Therefore, there were some lingual distinctions among Macedonian tribes and there had been a loose federation of their states till the strongest Argeades prevailed and formed the well known Macedonian state that expanded later to greater extent

Hi,You- We are talking now more precise topic- Makedonia= Makedono Valch relations, and this means MAKEDONIA, Nth. of Olymp, not Sth. of Olymp=Hellas, (which was part of Makedonia until 1800 bc, when , mainly for geostrategic purposes, Egypt and Persia were "sending" new settlers= xeleni=kseleni=seleni,GǪ from Africa and Asia, prisoners etc., who, they, after a while were main subject for fights, with their tribal formations i.e chiefdoms, and again first Egypt, than Persia, gaining control over them... With this, the goal was achieved- TROY, fall of TROY=TVOY =YOURS i.e. CITY of ILION, ILIOS, ILIAD, (St. ELIYA, ILIJA- God of Thunder, God of Light, GOD of SUN...), therefore clash between Makedonians and their "brothers " and countryman Vlachs- more precisely Hector-Hercules/HERACLE VS Ahil/ACHILE..., who was Tesalian, Alexander's bloodline from his mother, and Heracle- Alexander's bloodline from his father side, was achieved, and Persia and Egypt were the winners..., but not for longGǪ So all the way, until today, somehow Makedonians were misused and are forced to fight between themselves for others, for benefit of strangers, GǪ, now again Makedonians vs Makedonians, vs Vlach vs Iliroepirians, again- ancient MakedoniansGǪ(Tesalians are Vlachs, ancient Makedonian tribe, who were somehow Hellenised with closeness to Hellas, and Epiroilirians were Romanised- closeness to Rome, GǪ even today there are Vlachs who can not understand each other- i.e Kuco Vlasi, Karakachani, GǪ etc., simular to those Albanians from Sth of AlbaniaGǪ).
