Hi,
I am perhaps the first kalasha to be drawn in to this debate of weather or if kalasha have Greek or macedonian origins.
The fact is that every thing that has been said about kalash is very superficial, there has been no conclusive research. The language of Kalasha remains oral to the present day, the legends and rituals of the past have never been documented. To conduct with out finding the linguistic and anthropological similarities and ofcourse modern scientific reserach where DNA analysis is involved, it is useless to construct ideas.
i would better appericiate when people can think how they can contribute to tribal communities which are in danger of extinction
many thanks

Re: The Kalasha
Dear TajWelcome to the forum, and thank you very much for posting. While I appreciate that effort is more usefully spent on helping your community to survive, it would be a great loss if your tribal traditions are lost. Are there any plans to record your tribal community's memories and traditions ? Is there any way in which we can help ?Best regardsSusan
Re: The Kalasha
Welcome indeed!
And as Susan has already said the most important thing is the preservation of Kalashi culture and everything else comes second.
I imagine it must be hard to keep tradition alive while at the same time having to open to tourism and other outside influences. On the other hand there's no other way to keep young people in their villages, is there?

Hi,... thanks to "big brother" and Co., take extra care "... when Greeks are giving you gifts...", it will destroy your soul ..., but thanks to elders it won't work so easy these days. So instead of talking to "strangers", who apparently knows very well about situation and what is going on in your community, maybe better than yourself, (because they are already working on it- i.e. tourism, education etc., according to their own taste, not giving a damn about traditional life and way of native peopleGǪ!), you and your respected country- man should contact UN and/or similar org., and deal with them, like UNESCO or/and some non profitable org. from Civil Society and NGO- Non Government Org., or similarGǪ It is hard but you can try here, (unfortunately Makedonians are not so rich to help you, and even they are forbidden to use their name and cultural heritageGǪ, customs, language GǪetc., and yes- again thanks to Grks oops- Greeks again, but not for long)GǪ.,

Re: The Kalasha
Once again I am struck by surprise and sadness that a citizen of Skopia tries to do whatever possible to characterize negatively every Greek willing effort. When the first Greek missions especially consisting of Greek-Macedonians contacted this wonderful people, your own so called "nation" Mr Najdoski was striving to forge its national myths and presumed heritage. As if it is a shame to be proud of your Slav background and origin.
