Taxila
It seems that the remains of the throne hall of the palace of the king of Taxila have been discovered - I mean the man variously known as Taxiles, Omphis, or Ambhi.http://www.dawn.com/2002/03/24/nat31.htmI have some doubts about it. In my view, every level below the Hellenistic level is considered to be Achaemenid. This is, however, based on historical sources. If sigloi were found, or a cuneiform text, or something really Iranian, we would have more certainty. Yet, a throne hall in a pre-Hellenistic level is interesting in its own right.Jona

Re: Taxila
It says "A kitchen and a bar have been unearthed on the palace site." A bar? Like a long counter with bar stools and a juke box? Is that what it means? Can anyone elucudate? Does he mean an inn, or a room where drinks could be bought/dispensed?Linda

Those Taxilans knew how to have a good time, Linda. I'm surprised it's the only bar they've found, actually. Don't even ask about the nightclubs ...
