Hi,
..., Alexander did not left his Makedonian Kingdom to the strongest but to the proudest one, the most capable to keep his achivmenst..., YES- becouse He knew very well that the power and strenght will lead to more and more competition towards "power and sternght" and that is pure suffering for ordinary people. That is why he was proud to be what he was MAKEDONIAN, and in Makedonian PROUD=GORD, so Gordious is name for one who is PROUD what he is , like King ..., yes my friends-GORDIOUS=GORDIOT=GORD- MEANS PROUD ONE...LIKE ME THAT I AM PROUD MAKEDONIAN FROM MAKEDONIA, THE LAND OF GLORY, THE LAND OF COMPASSION, THE LAND OF LOVE TRUTH AND LIGHT, AS I...THE LIGHT 7000

Oh dear, the Greek/Macedonian debate. It is so incredibly boring.I once read that anti-spam-software automatically filters away words like "longer penis", "free viagra" and "cheap mortgage". Isn't it possible to create something similar in this forum for strings like "FYROM", "Thessalonici is Makedonian", etc?Jona

Hello,I do agree- I believe that this forum is simply dedicated to studying the life of Alexander the Great- and while respecting rights of free speech etc. it's not to be used for perpetuating an obsession regarding the Greek/Macedonian debate. which as Jona says, really is so darned boring.Best wishes,
Dean.

Dear Companions ---Yes, the Forum rules say the Greek-Mac-debate is banned from this Forum. I could delete these messages any time. However, I tend to do so only when a message is in a broad sense abusive towards other Forum members or towards certain groups of people in general. Sometimes it is my own *decision* to think of a message as *abusive* (when it is obvious), other times I tend to react as soon as possible when people complain e.g. about the tone of voice of a message. Please tell me whenever you feel a message should be deleted. (I am a bit reluctant to delete every Greek-Mac-posting right away. In some cases this debate can have a certain historical value.)Regards ---Nick

It is simple enough to ignore the threads, which I often do, or I read selectively according to who is posting. My only real objection to this debate (and the variations therein) is that once it begins anew there is usually a pattern of some members starting several new threads on the same subject - one time, around Christmas, I think I counted seven! When this happens, it pushes other threads, some of which may have been active, into the archives.Best regards,Linda Ann
