Is this a test from another lazy student? I'll give you a hint, Alexander didn't agree with Aristotle's view that non Greeks are barbarians, but.........

I would agree Andrew and say Aristotles influence was minimal to be generous, I feel Aristotle followers expect more gratitude from Alexander and his followers.However if Alexander was influenced by Aristotle, I feel he would have subdugated his foes once beaten,rather than try embrace them to his cause as one.Not to go into arguing, but Greeks of that time were a strange pompous breed who couldnt trust oe get on with anyone.I feel Aristotle gave his own education to Alexander, But our man wasnt influenced by anyone he was his own man with his own thoughts.As a fellow acedemic at that time said, I cant recall his name, coined a phrase of Alexander.That Alexander was basically the first philosopher to come dressed in armour.regardsKenny

I wanted to ask the same question, although I think that Luis is being a bit laconic to say the least.Socrates taught Plato and Plato taught Aristotle and then Aristotle taught Alexander the great and BOOM!!!!!!!Just shows you what a bit of "knowledge" can do!!!

Aristotle only taught the boys at Mieze for about two years. But obviously he had some influence on Alexander otherwise why would Alex. have bothered collecting and send back to Macedon all the botanical samples and other things he did for the philosopher? In my opinion he had quite a lot of influence although Alex. had a mind of his own, obviously, and there were moments when their thinking clashed. Aristotle was very disillusioned when he died but I don't think it had all to do with Alexander's exploits.
