A possibly tough question...

Post by Jay »

Hello,There is a old poster from a 1982 PBS program called "The Search For Alexander", and I'm wondering what bust or statue of Alexander is pictured in this poster, and if there are other photos of it. It can be seen about half way down the page (on the right, the one with the pinkish tinge) of the following URL and has "Search For Alexander" in type at the top.http://sangha.net/messengers/images.htmAlso, does anyone know if this poster can still be purchased?Thank you for your help.Jay

Hi Jay,That is a tough question. It's amazing how, without the hair, it's so difficult to tell.I don't recognise it immediately, but someone else might be able to.Sorry.Marcus

Some great photos there. I wasn't exactly sure which one you meant. I've seen many of those busts and statues in my research travels. Can you be more specific about exatly which one you mean and I'll take another look. Ruthaki

Not including the top banner, if you count the pictures from the top of the page, it's picture #20. I saw this poster once before years ago. I neglected to buy it then and have been kicking myself ever since. It's one of the few busts or statues where Alexander's nose isn't broken off and his features are perfectly formed. I would really love to have a picture of it from some source.Thank you for your help.Jay

Is "Aornos Rock" the same as "Jailhouse Rock"?Hmm, that was a bit feeble...
