Hey I was wondering if you guys could help me out here. I've always been a fan of Alexander the Great so I'm giving a presentation about Military leadership but instead of doing an american soldier I'm doing someone interesting. My problem is, I can think of things to present about his Loyalty, Duty, Selfless Service and Honor, but they all overlap each other. What are four different examples in his life when he uses one of those four attributes, Loyalty, Duty, Selfless Service and Honor.

Hello, Loyalty: to his Father in pursuing his dream of attacking the Persian Empire. One may say to his friends except that he has a couple of stains there in regards to Philotas and Cleitus.Duty: Always the first to lead the charge or to be in the front ranks. The man led by example and did not ask his troops to do anything he would not do himself. Selfless Service: The example of Alexander in the desert being offered the helmut with water and dumping it in front of his soldiers to show that if they had to suffer he would suffer as well. Honor: The treatment of the Royal Persian women captured after the Battle of Issus.

Hi CJMy two cents:Loyalty: When ill after his splash in the Cydnus (?), and having received a letter from Parmenion telling him that his physician had been bought by Persian gold to poison him, he handed in the letter to the physician while drinking the concoction prescribed by him.
When he visited the wounded and had a comforting word for each of them.Duty: In Issos, when his cavalry got the edge and Dareios decided to flee, Alexander refrained from pursuing him because the battle was not over yet and the other wing of the Makedonian army was under pressure.Regards,Alejandro

Hi C.J,For 'Honour' you could also include Alexander's treatment of the defeated king 'Porus', after the battle of the Hydaspes in 326BCE.He was so impressed by Porus' sense of honour that he allowed him to retain his throne, and indeed, ultimately ended up greatly enlarging Porus' kingdom for him!regards,Kit

Hi Chris,I really enjoyed this thoughtful question. I cannot help you yet with answers as I am in the stage of learning before I could attempt such a response. But I have liked what I have read. Thanks for posting such a great insight.
