g. has responded to your message: Re: NonsenceThe response reads:
Re: Nonsencehmmm, well, from what ive been reading there is nothing that supports the
facts that the Greeks have sub-saharan blood in them, and that the ancient
Greeks, for the most part, are the same as moderns.heres a really good site for that sort of stuff:

I read the relative article of Villena et al. 2001 supporting the subsaharan origin of the Greeks. Well, analysing this article was quite interesting because there are quite some "flaws"in this study:
a. One of the inclusion criteria, probably the most crucial in order for a patient to participate in the study was to speak the "macedonian language". Impressivelly enough, the linguistic criteria are used to determine the genetic origin of a population which is paradox. We cannot mix the genetics with linguistics because we come up with some very funny conclusions p.e the belgians would be of the same origin as the cameronese people since they are in their majority french speaking populations. b. the ancestors of the people under study did not belong to a country minority group (mentionned in a table). Personally I was not able to find a valid method to distinguish an Italian from a Spaniard, a Greek or a Cretan (all of them are groups mentionned in this table) Until now nobody was able to do so and to my disappointment the authors fail to mention their criteria for this distinction. I am open to discussing this topic, we might win a nobel prize.c. I must agree that there is a vast comparison of "Macedonian" genetic material with other mediterranean and african populations. Among others Macedonians
Moroccans (El Jadida)
Berbers (Souss)
Moroccan Jews
Spaniards
Basques
Portuguese
French
Algerians (Algier)
Sardinians
Italians
Jews (Ashkenazi)
Jews (non-Ashkenazi)
Cretans
Greeks (Aegean)
Greeks (Attica)
Greeks (Cyprus)
Lebanese (NS)2
Lebanese (KZ)3
Iranians
Turks
Armenians
Egyptians (Siwa)
Oromo
Amhara
Fulani
Rimaibe
Mossi
San (Bushmen)
Senegalese
South-African-BlacksBut in the above list there are some Balkan populations missing. What happened to all the Slavic populations? What happened to the Albanians? We see comparison with BUSHMEN but no comparison with Serbs, Bulgarians, Croatians ecc. If the authors failed to examine people of these populations they should at least mention it in the special section of their article called discussion. If on the other hand they wanted to give an international colour to this study they could use Sinic populations like Chinese, Japponese, ecc.

Both points are very intriguing, I will digest them and as Arnold would say,"I'll be back".

"p.e the belgians would be of the same origin as the cameronese people since they are in their majority french speaking populations"Hm, I'm Dutch, but I would have to defend my Belgian neighbours: the majority of Belgians are Flemish speakers (according to population).But...I totally don't understand this thread at all. Does it have anything to do with Alexander? Should it be deleted?Regards -
Nick

This is part of the "Greek-Macedonian" debate. The Macedonian propaganda has some "proof" that the Greek's DNA is rooted in sub-saharan Africa, something that the Greeks indignantly deny.I personaly find it amusing, and it's good for a laugh, but I know it will soon be deleted.John

Since we seem to be on the subject of racial propaganda, I guess this is not out of place.http://washingtontimes.com/upi-breaking ... 7r.htmJohn

If this is part of the "Greek/Macedonian" debate, then I vote it should be deleted - hadn't we all agreed ages ago that that debate is not acceptable on this forum?Maybe that will encourage people to spend a bit more time on Alexander, and less time on other ridiculous threads that seem only to be annoying everyone else... :-)All the bestMArcus

I think this may be a modern equivalent of the arguments between the Macedonians & the Persians, which is why Alexander faced such an uphill struggle in getting them to integrate.Susan

We did debunked this FYROMIAN pseudo-science a few months ago. I opened this can of worms by mistake, I received a email through the forum plus I was lazy and tired to look up the original thread so I crashed and let the forum make it very easy. oh well, quit your whining you all will get over it but since the damage is done.

'Are Today's Macedonians Successors of Alexander the Great? Not many if any! 'Will Genetics Finally Resolve The Greek-Macedonian Dispute?' Only if you're a troglodyte which is better than being one week out of a tree(but not much).
If these clowns continue to use modern DNA the Greek-Macedonian dispute will continue but if enough ancient DNA from Greece and Macedonia can be acquired, another can of worms? They'll probably prove that Greeks came from Macedonians(12,000BCE)
Now all who still whine's have my permission to go to their little boxes and pound sand.
And to you who gave to this thread, I salute you! Your bravery will keep you from falling on your sword.

Vasko if you want to see the light take care to remove your dark glasses. The commentary on the study I sent in the beginning of this thread was for the famous study you cited (Arnaiz-Villena et al, Tissue Antigens 2001.) It is quite funny though to see you defend this publication. I do agree with the other companions that this thread has to do with the GR-FYROM debate so it should be deleted.

Nick I stand corrected. I wanted to give an exagerrated example.
