This is a new 3-part series by Prof. Alice Roberts on Channel 4. I guess it might show up on YouTube eventually. It didn't start off too well - Thessaloniki was the centre of ancient Macedonia (? er, scarcely. It was important in Roman times, yes) and was founded in 315 BC by Philip and named after his daughter (???, yes it was named after Philip's daughter, but founded by Cassander 20 years after Philip's death. Really, Alice should know better.)
I am not sure what the purpose of the programmes is as the first episode didn't come up with any overarching cultural theory or revelations, but it is certainly worth a watch just for the visuals and an enriching touristy experience. And Alice was reading 'Young Alexander' by Alex Rowson.
