They still study the tactics and strategies of Alexander the Great (and other ancient generals) at West Point. This can simply be one of those source materials used in military academies, issued by the government.

Alexander? Observe a battle from a hill? Of course the thought never entered his mind. ;)And the military uses sign language nowadays for soldiers to communicate in battle... it makes sense now and it made sense then. That Alexander...a smart cookie. :)
