Hephaestion's appearance

According to Arthur Weigall, so little is known about Hephaestion except that he was taller than Alexander. Does anyone have a good description of how Hephaestion looked?

Try
http://home.earthlink.net/~mathetria/images.htmlI've seen another bronze that is meant to be Hephaistion, in which he has short curly hair and a rather fleshy face. Personally, I always imagine him like Mr Darcy in Pride and Prejudice.Susan

Thank you, Susan, I appreciated and enjoyed all the various portraits and statuary. Fascinating.Well, let me confess. Yesterday, I had been responding to a woman who had asked me if I had seen Hephaestion in my dream. These dream sequences go so rapidly that I can only recall them with a grasp on the final scenes, but certain details did impress me. Mostly when awakening, I was aware of the person in whose body I had been and that gave me a partial clue to when, where, and who of the situation. One has to use intuition a lot to interpret these dreams.Anyway, because of the stimulus of my correspondence with the subject of Hephaestion, I had had a visual imagery of a tall man, (not 6 ft but under) who was very erect, very composed, and very handsome and appealing in his looks. He had dark blonde hair, probably blue eyes, but his resoluteness, his commanding presence, and his calm and composure impressed me so that I thought that I was seeing Hephaestion. I really liked his looks. He was steadfast, loyal, and dependable, and there for me. Soon after I had that mental image I saw a man walking through the mall that bore a resemblance to him. HIs hair and his body structure seemed similar so I followed him and wondered whether it was the correspondence with Natalie or a prewarning of the guy in the mall. Strange, huh. He had been dressed in a chiton also, same color but different braiding at the shoulders. He had a commanding air about him, but it was his faithfulness and calm that impressed me the most. Isn't that most amazing? I just had to share it with you. I really appreciate the pictures and the website. I describe his face as oval and really very handsome. He was young too as was the guy in the mall who I just let pass me by. Too young for me, but so fascinating to find.

Dear Susan, I really appreciate the url and all the wonderful pictures there. I really appreciated all those by LeBrun for Louis XIV. The marriage bed of Roxanne and Alexander and Hephaestion is very interesting as I have seen it here in the library but had forgotten it. It makes me think of Louis XIV also. I had never seen the LeBrun portrait of King Porus before now. That is intriguing to me.Alexander-Macedonia is another discussion group found in the Yahoo groups. The picture of the bust of Hephaestion there is closest to the image which I picked up and discussed. I wish I could forward it to you. IF I have your e-mail address, I will.Jan
