Well yes it is, that's what the curator of the Louvre Museum said to the visitors who did not understand what the word meant - I am speaking about the Victory statue of Samothrace that ended up in Louvre.
I visited the exhibition that takes place in the Acropolis museum entitled "Samothrace. The mysteries of the Great Gods " and had the chance to take some photos. What was interesting for me which I was not aware of were the the 2 dedications offered at the temple by Philip III and Alexander IV, son of Alexander the Great and Roxane. This fact changes a bit (I think) our knowledge of power politics of the time.
I am only sending 3 photos, with more to follow if interest rises. Unfortunately the forum won't allow me to post any photos regardless of size so here is the link to the full size photos

EDIT
Here is the official video of the exhibition

Also I have updated the album with more photos, here is the link

I hope that you will be able to match the artifacts to their explanation tabs. I have not the skills to match them myself.

EDIT 3
Added more photos to a second album

The explanation texts are mixed with the artifacts. Therefore I want to mention that the dedication of Philip III and Alexander IV is explained at the text entitled "Theatral Circle". By digging that building the eagle sculpture dedication was found.
The red figure vases come from the Necropolis 5th BC and represent soldiers leaving for battle.
The small black figure vases that bear inscriptions are writen on a pro-hellenic language of worship purposes.
Best to all
Pauline

Thank you for posting so may photos from this exibition! I never suspected it were so interesting and full of rich finds. Till now I knew only the amazing Louvre's Nike! I admire also the Tholos, because I had previously studied the meaning and the origin of circular buildings in archaic Greece. Greetings

EDIT 4
After the "resounding success" (I'm kidding of course, thank you all of you who viewed the posts) of the Samothrace exhibition I am sending the rest of the Necropolis photos as well as photos of prehistoric artifacts that come from that era of the island's history. An observation here, the holes on the vases were made to facilitate the spilling during the ceremonies in honor of the dead. I chose some of the most ancient of the prehistoric vases.
