You must be thinking of some other Alexander as any careful reading of the sources would attest

Orgies? No kidding? Men, women, or mixed? This could re-write history- Did you read it in some tabloid? Was Elvis there? (just kidding)

The only mention I've found of orgies in any mainstream Alexander-related publication is(surprise, surprise) in Michael Woods' book, 'Footsteps of . .' Unfortunately Mr. Woods has a habit of getting a little carried away. He refers enthusiastically to 'drunken orgies' (sounds a bit messy) but doesn't elaborate enough to tell us where he found this intriguing nugget. I think he might have meant to say 'orgies of drunkeness' which sounds similar but is quite different . . . I believe. Methinks his editors might have taken a few liberties with his text when he wasn't looking to spice up the whole Alexander fandango for the modern market.

Are you thinking about the Macedonian drinking parties? Philip was likely the one involved in most of these and perhaps some may have been 'orgies'. I can't imagine Alexander in one of these though he was known to get drunk and on occasions (as in the killing of Kleitos) get carried away.
Perhaps the burning of Persepolis began with a drinking party too. But 'orgy'? I don't think so!
