Hi everyone,Susan's post about Fraser's "Cities of Alexander" book (which I haven't read) got me wondering if there was a source out there about Alexandria in its early stages of development. I don't suppose there can be any maps available, but it would be interesting to get an idea what the place actually looked like. Anyone know of a book I could try?Cheers,Kate

Yes, it is a children's book, but the details are illustrative and exceptional: Crisp, Peter. "Alexander the Great: The Legend of a Warrior King". Pub. Dorling Kindersley Book, 2000. ISBN#0-7894-6109-9.You can also go on http://www.dk.com for more resources related to ancient history, etc. When I needed to "see" ATG's world, I referred to that resource. It also includes poignant quotations from Xerxes, Demosthenes, Isocrates, and Alexander. The illustrations are awesome!Cheers!

O I saw great movie about Alexandria from Alexander's times in Discovery channel. Also on this forum someone said some 3 months ago about such programme in ch 4 of british TV. I have both in my video tapes but I doubt if it can help You - sorry. Maciek
