can someone please tell me which primary sources deal with Alexander's life UP TO Philip's murder. Is it only PLUTARCH or are there others as well?
Thank you!

Well if you want a very good fictional account, read Mary Renault's "Fire From Heaven".

There were numerous books written about Alexander not long after his death. Our sources that we use today - Plutarch, Justin's Epitome, Arrian, Curtius and Diodorus - were compiled using these original works which no longer exist. One of the books written was called "The Upbringing of Alexander," and it is speculated Plutarch took some material from this book. Outside of that, everything else would be speculation.

Hi!
Theese books writen by Tre are our primary sources but - because everything what was written in his times is lost. Plutarch, Justin's Epitome, Arrian, Curtius and Diodorus - and we can add I think Strabon, but if only period You mentioned concerns You have only three: Arrian first and most importand! Justin - but You have to be cerfoul about the facts included there, Plutarch (what You just have) is good source in my opinion if You push away all mistic elements from his book.
